Kunle Falayi is a data journalist at the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism at WHRO, where he focuses on data analysis and investigative projects that translate complex datasets into clear, compelling public-interest reporting. His work often focuses on policing, surveillance, and transparency, including in-depth analyses of automatic license plate reader systems and statewide law enforcement data. Before joining WHRO, he reported for international and national outlets including the BBC in West Africa, The Arizona Republic, and the UK’s Daily Telegraph. He teaches data journalism at the University of Richmond and holds a master’s degree in data journalism from Columbia University. Kunle’s work has been recognized with several honors, including recently the 2025 Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Excellence in Journalism Award, among others.
